The Eco-Fair at Campbell was absolutely fantastic.
Besides missing one period, there was a whole bunch of free stuff, strange booths, crazy speakers, a smart car and a hybrid on the front lawn. Even the NDP and the Greens came looking for votes, though they probably failed miserably. Most students either don’t care or are too lazy to vote, even if they are of voting age. XD
The SaskPower booth had environmentally-friendly lights for people to turn on/off and Taras was mesmerized by that. The sticky notes rocked too.
The speaker that the Grade 10’s got was a crazy guy who wrote a book about “Guerrilla Gardening”. He recommended that people should plant first and ask questions later. In my opinion, some of his ideas were a bit extreme, such as throwing “seed bombs” over fences in private property to grow plants.
There was apparently a draw and there was an iPod up-for-grabs and there’s no news so far about that. :( I wonder if it’s a Nano or a Touch or a Shuffle.
Oh, there was also a burrowing owl. Didn’t get a chance to pet it though.
Overall, I give it a 4.5/5 — non-crazy speakers would be fantastic.
On a side note, CAS meeting for students going into IB Diploma in Room 216 on Tuesday at noon. D:
